Today's designers of musical instruments require expertise in a diverse assortment of disciplines: materials science, electronics, human factors engineering, and computer programming, as well as music. How can a course of study fulfill all of these needs? What challenges do we face in preparing the next generation of instrument designers, and who is going to do the training? Participants on the panel will be educators from colleges and secondary schools who are teaching instrument design, and industry representatives looking for new talent.
